The European Union (EU)-funded Project “Technical Assistance for the ARISE+ Programme in Viet Nam”, together with the Plant Protection Department (PPD), affiliated to Viet Nam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), organised successfully a series of short-term e-training courses on Developing standardised methods for testing pesticide quality over two months from February to March 2023.
The virtual training was supported by the project’s one international pesticide quality analysis expert and one Vietnamese pesticide active ingredients analysis expert, drawing participation of 15 officials representing PPD’s Northern and Southern Pesticide Control and Testing Centres, Northern Plant Protection Centre, and Plant Quarantine and Testing Centre. Completing the course, trainees were provided with advanced knowledge of Method Validation, Analytical Quality Assurance, Metrological Traceability, Measurement Uncertainty, and Application of Control Chart.
The collaborative activity is aimed to assist PPD’s laboratory workers to upskill in pesticide quality testing for they can achieve accurate, consistent, and reliable results. This will be basis for the responsible state management agencies to impose control on pesticide product quality, supervision of sale of pesticide mixtures, contributing to ensuring food safety and environmental protection./.
