FIRST PROJECT STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING

On the 25th June, the Project Steering Committee of the Trade-Related Assistance Programme for Viet Nam (Arise+ Viet Nam) held their first meeting at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Hanoi.
The meeting was held in hybrid form, hosted by Mr. Luong Hoang Thai, Director of Multilateral Trade Policy Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade – Chairman and Mr. Jesus Lavina, Deputy Head of Cooperation Department, Delegation of the European Union to Viet Nam – Co-Chair, with the participations of other members of the Project Steering Committee, the EU Delegation to Viet Nam, members of ARISE+ Viet Nam and Project implementation partners
 
 
Despite facing many difficulties, the project team has made great efforts coordinating with stakeholders to implement the project. At the meeting, representatives of the Ministries and Agencies highly appreciated and agreed with the proposals of the experts for the overall work plan as well as the work plan for the first year.
 
 
Mr. Lavina Jesus said: “Viet Nam and the EU have made great efforts to sign the EVFTA agreement, the ARISE+ project is the next support program after the EU-MUTRAP Project, it should be based on the results of the MUTRAP Project, including a very important document, which is the Joint Indicative Road Map, focus on the implementation of the EVFTA Agreement."
 
At the end of the meeting, the Project Steering Committee approved in principle the Overall Work Plan and the plan for the first year of the Arise+ Viet Nam project. Information on project’s activities will be regularly updated in the next Project Steering Committee meetings.
