In order to Improve capacity of government officials and researchers in Vietnam to analyze trade statistics, and assess EVFTA implementation and impact, the ARISE+ Viet Nam project together with the Ministry of Finance organized a training course on “Trade data analysis to facilitate the implementation of Free Trade Agreements” on January 20th and 21st 2022 in Hanoi.
This course was implemented within the framework of activity FTA 1.1 of the ARISE+ Vietnam programme and is one of the first activities implemented between the Project and the Ministry of Finance.

The training course was organized in hybrid form with the participation of more than 30 officials from related departments and ministries including Ministry of Finance, General Department of Customs, Ministry of Industry and Trade, General Statistics Office, The Ministry of Transportation and the Central Institute for Economic Management.

The training course is lectured by Dr. Uwe Kaufmann from Australian Institute of Business (Australia). Participants had the opportunity to discuss and clarify many questions related to the economic impacts of tariffs, Trade indicators and accessing publicly available data sources, and Applied Trade Statistical Analysis

Ms. Do Thi Thanh - International Cooperation Department, Ministry of Finance shared after finishing the course: “The contents of the training course are very useful, practical and closely related to the work of the participants". Representative of the Ministry of Finance also said that capacity building activities for officials are essential in helping the Ministry of Finance monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of the EVFTA in the future.
